Post our splendied experience at Gulmarg, early morning today, we begun our road trip to Sonamarg. Tucked away amidst the towering peaks of the Himalayas, Sonamarg emerges as a pristine winter wonderland when the cold season blankets the Kashmir Valley with fresh powdery snow. Translating to “Meadow of Gold,” Sonmarg captivated all of us with its amazing beauty and serene landscapes. It was sight to behold, with 360 degrees views of towering mountains with fresh snow.  Each one of us in the group, was out of the words, and almost everyone said, “This is way cooler than Switzerland” 🙂

One of the most enchanting aspects of Sonamarg is the sense of solitude and serenity that pervades its snow-covered landscapes. There were very few tourists here, and we felt as if we owned entire place for some time.   We took the snowmobile and sledging help to reach the higher altitude, for extra privacy and really soaked in its beauty.
