Pamban Bridge, Rameswaram

Pamban Bridge is one of Rameswaram’s unmissable attractions. An engineering marvel, this cantilever railway bridge connects the island of Rameswaram to the mainland and opened to traffic in 1914 (more than a century ago. This is one of the longest cantilever bridges (2.2 km) built across a bay in India, and constructed over the Palk Strait, and is 6,776 feet long.  It is a double-leaf drawbridge or bascule bridge that can be raised to make way for ships.

It does offer panoramic views of the never-ending blue water of the sea from the. The popular song Tera Rastaa Chhodoon Na from the superhit Bollywood film Chennai Express (2013), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, was shot here
