Sikkim is a small state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet, and Nepal. Part of the Himalayas, the area has a dramatic landscape including India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kanchenjunga. Sikkim is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows, and thousands of varieties of wildflowers. High snow-capped mountains, flowing rivers, chilled wind, wildflowers, colorful wildlife, beautiful people made the Himalayan state Sikkim most beautiful. We, a group of 4 friends from JNTU Class of 88 along with families, spent about a week in this beautiful state.
During this week, we visited some of the popular attractions such as Divine Lake Changu, Beautiful Lake Gurudongmar, stayed at two beautiful resorts from Mahindra, one in Baiguney and one in Gangtok, spent a day with Lachugnpa Hishey’s homestay in Lachung, did River Rafting on Teesta, played with Snow at Kala Patthar, got Radhika and kids to try Paragliding from top of a mountain hill, spent the evening with JNTU friend’s Burpeepal Cottage, and most importantly meeting Pemzang Tenzing who went to school with us at JNTU from 1984 to 1988.
