Vestrahorn, on the Stokksnes peninsula in Iceland, has dramatic peaks reaching up to 454 meters (1490 ft). It rises out of a flat, black sand beach and dominates the view whilst a gentle clear lagoon laps at the shore. It is one of the most haunting beaches that I have stepped on. You will agree with it, when you play the video and browse the pics.
Lovingly nicknamed the “Batman Mountain” we can see why this mysterious mountain is captivating to look and photograph. Vestrahorn is named for its sharp, high peaks, which form horn-like shapes – the word translates to mean Western Horn.
The black sand beaches when wet can form a mirror effect on calm days, which makes for stunning photos!
