I am visiting Minneapolis for the 4th time in 30 years, and the last visit was 20 years ago. I was here in this city for the first time during Christmas 1990 which was about 3 decades ago, and the weather was about -40F with wind-chill. This week weather flirted around 95F, and was pretty hot, and felt as if I was in Dallas. Though winter is a few months away, I did not expect the weather to be so humid and hot.
Thanks to persistent invites from Giridhar Addagudi for several years now, I made it here this week. I spent the weekend hanging out with extended family and getting serenaded by great food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Renuka Maripally‘s kitchen, Revathi Addagudi‘s kitchen and Sarita Addagudi’s kitchen
The city and suburbs are abundantly rich in water, with numerous lakes (and got to visit a couple of them), wetlands, the Mississippi River, creeks and waterfalls. Per Wiki, The name Minneapolis is attributed to Charles Hoag, the city’s first schoolmaster, who combined mni, a Dakota Sioux word for water, and polis, the Greek word for city. Some trivia, just in case you were wondering 🙂
